NO SCHOOL Monday, September 7th... safety drills... 1st PTA meeting Tuesday

Dear Lancaster Families,

There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 7th due to Labor Day.

The start of the school year has been overwhelmingly smooth & positive for students and staff. We appreciate all the prep work that went into this transition, both by parents on the homefront and by our dedicated Lancaster staff. Students are already learning the routines, familiarizing themselves with their classrooms, and making new friends.

NH Primary Election Day is Tuesday, September 8th from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. School IS in session that day, and voting does NOT occur at Lancaster.

You may hear your student talk about the expectations at Lancaster for Safety, Respect, and Responsibility. Throughout the month of September, we will be focusing on Safety. This includes doing several drills. This week, we practiced a Fire Evacuation. It was a walk-through practice without the loud fire alarm going off just yet. Students did great lining up outside and following adult directions. In the next few weeks, we will continue by practicing staying in our classroom if there was a medical emergency or spill of some kind. We will also practice a Run, Hide, Fight Drill. During this drill, I will explain (in age-appropriate ways) that there might be an animal or some type of threat that got into our building, and we may have to hide. However, if we can get out of the building, we will run to a safe spot with our class. We practice this so that in the event of a real emergency, students are familiar with following adult directions. Every drill, we learn more about the best ways to keep students and staff members safe, calm, and prepared. If you have questions about any of our drills, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Do you know that Lancaster received a “Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Program” (FFVP) grant? This means that every day, our kitchen delivers FREE fresh fruits or vegetables to every classroom for snack time. Who doesn’t love that?

Chorus starts on Wednesday, September 9th. This is an optional activity for 4th & 5th grade students with our new chorus teacher, Mr. Norwood.
