Guidelines and protocols for preventing in-school transmissions.

  • Welcome to Lancaster!
We are excited for your student to join our family!

    • Please ensure you have uploaded the most up to date immunizations AND most recent physical to the Online Registration portal for your student.
    • Current immunization requirements are set by the State of New Hampshire – A PARENT’S GUIDE TO IMMUNIZATIONS REQUIRED FOR SCHOOLS
    • If your student has a chronic medical condition, please reach out to Nurse Casey to ensure required forms and action plans are in place prior to attending school.
    • All medications that need to be taken at school must be kept in the nurse's office and have doctor and guardian authorization to be given. Medications can NOT be transported to/from school by students and MUST be brought in by an adult and given to the nurse.
    • If you have any questions for these processes, please reach out to Nurse Casey via email or by calling the school.

    Thank you!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Home Assessment
The Salem School District asks that parents assess students prior to coming to school each day in an effort to help prevent respiratory viruses (including COVID-19, the Flu, and RSV,) from entering the school system.

We recommend symptomatic students stay home and away from others if they have respiratory virus symptoms. These symptoms can include fever, chills, fatigue, cough, runny nose, and headache, among others.

    Symptomatic at School
Students displaying symptoms during the school day will be referred to the school nurse. If it is determined the symptoms could be the result of a respiratory virus, parents will be contacted and students may be dismissed from school.

  • Students can return to school when, for at least 24 hours, both are true:

    • Symptoms are getting better overall, no persistent cough, and
    • Student has been fever free for 24 hours without the use fever-reducing medication.
  • Although testing to determine the cause of respiratory illness symptoms is advised, there is no requirement for symptomatic students to test prior to returning to school. Follow the same guidelines above for assessment and returning to school.

  • Students testing positive for any respiratory illness should follow the same recommendations above – stay home and return when symptoms are improving and students have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without any fever-reducing medication.

  • When your student returns to school, we recommend they take added precautions to prevent the potential transmission to other students. While your student may wish to wear a mask, this is not a requirement.
