We had a full week of learning, deepening friendships, & practicing routines. During Constitution Week in the library, students learned about the 239th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution. Explaining the Constitution in kid-friendly language made it understandable & enjoyable for our students.

Registration is now closed for the Salem Scramble. We’re looking forward to seeing many of you on Saturday, September 26th as you “muddy” your way through the obstacle course!

Last call to return your child’s dental forms to school! Information was sent home in backpacks. Please call the main office if you can’t locate it. See attached flyer.

Lancaster & the Salem School District have three “Cultural Expectations” that we actively teach and reinforce to students. These are: respect, responsibility, and safety. You will be hearing these themes throughout the school year.
Each classroom has their own unique ways of celebrating class-wide and individual learning habits and positive behaviors. These can range from “pom pom jars” to Super Improver Walls to “level-up“ charts. These visuals are often very motivating for students.
School-wide, we celebrate positive behavior of students with our “Friday STAR Student” award.

Friday STAR Student
Each month, students will work on demonstrating a different trait to earn Friday STAR Student. After teachers have chosen their weekly winner, students’ names are read aloud on the overhead morning announcements. Then, we gather for a group photo (only students who are allowed to be photographed), and students receive a STAR keychain or bracelet. Teachers and staff will regularly remind students of “what it takes” to earn a Friday STAR, as well as pre-teaching the expected behaviors through conversation, books, and videos related to the monthly theme. Here are the monthly Friday STAR themes for this school year:
September: Safety
October: Respect
November: Responsibility
December: Kindness
January: Perseverance
February: Friendship
March: Conflict Resolution/Problem Solving
April: Inclusivity
May: Growing Independence
June: Honesty
Friday STAR Student will begin on Friday, September 25th. This is yet another way that Lancaster students shine!
